Job Title: Assistant Payroll ManagerAbout the Role

Partnership Employment is seeking an experienced Assistant Payroll Manager to join our team. As a key member of our payroll department, you will be responsible for managing various payroll-related tasks and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Human Resources team to process new hire set-ups, benefit enrollments, terminations, and payroll adjustments.
  • Verify and track payroll-related information, including time and attendance data, leave time, direct deposits, benefits, garnishments, deductions, bonuses, and wage attachments.
  • Maintain the accuracy and validity of payroll system data and ensure all transactions adhere to regulatory requirements.
  • Respond to payroll inquiries from employees and external agencies, providing information and guidance as needed.
  • Assist with setting up new state tax codes and responding to tax notices.
  • Collaborate with payroll and tax filing service providers to maintain records, reports, and tax filings.
  • Lead year-end payroll processes, including audits, W2 processing, 1094-1095 processing, and company-specific activities.
  • Partner with senior management to prepare 5500 filings, 401(K) reports, nondiscrimination filings, EEO-1 reports, and annual payroll audits.
  • Manage and track leave of absence requests (FMLA and disability) and monitor unemployment filings.
  • Record, maintain, and update payroll and benefits procedures.
  • Work with the current payroll vendor to resolve technical issues with payroll reports and system back-end problems.
  • Audit, reconcile, and approve monthly benefit and payroll-related invoices.
Requirements
  • Minimum three years of payroll administration experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.
  • Previous experience with Workday and Kronos is a plus.
  • Knowledge of payroll and tax laws is essential.
  • Intermediate Excel skills are necessary.
