Job Overview

Nexus HR Services is seeking a skilled Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our team in San Leandro, CA.

About the Position

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced professional to provide top-notch care to patients with mental health needs. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, you will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and managing mental illnesses, as well as providing treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and diagnose mental health conditions, developing effective treatment plans to address patient needs.
  • Prescribe and review medications, ensuring patients receive the best possible care.
  • Assess patient condition, from initial evaluation to ongoing monitoring, to ensure the highest level of care.
  • Develop and implement individualized medical treatment care plans, prioritizing patient well-being.
  • Foster strong therapeutic relationships with patients, promoting trust and open communication.
  • Successfully de-escalate situations involving patients in psychiatric emergencies, maintaining a safe and respectful environment.
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as clinical charting and REMS/cures monitoring, to maintain accurate records and streamline care.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including physicians, psychologists, and social workers, to ensure seamless continuity of care.

Requirements:

  • Degree in nursing practice from an accredited program.
  • Current certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (ANCC or equivalent).
  • Licensure to practice in California as an RN and/or NP.
  • Ability to work in Oakland, CA, or Sacramento, CA.
  • Knowledge of modern clinical psychiatry principles, including abnormal psychology, diagnostic interviewing, and community mental health.
  • Experience in behavioral health medication management.
  • Strong ability to assess patient needs, determine diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, and develop effective treatment plans.
  • Preferred experience working with individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds and in low-income/under-served communities.
  • Active California DEA certificate in good standing and malpractice insurance.

Working Conditions:

  • Monday to Friday, 30 hours per week.
  • Minimum 6 months commitment, preferably 1 year.
  • Clinical caseload of up to 25 patients daily.

Estimated Salary: $115 - 130 per hour, plus $5,000 credentialing bonus.
