Job Summary

The Insurance Verification Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring patients have proper insurance coverage for services provided by the clinic. This position involves verifying insurance coverage, collecting payments, and communicating with patients and insurance companies to provide excellent care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify insurance coverage using various payers' websites
  • Collect payments for services in-person or by phone
  • Explain coverages to patients
  • Obtain referrals for patients when they are not covered
  • Update patient information and maintain accurate records
  • Fulfill documentation required for billing
  • Communicate with insurance companies and 3rd party billing companies to resolve claim denials
  • Collaborate with the billing department to track payments and resolve insurance-related issues
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in insurance verification procedures
  • Handle insurance-related queries from internal and external stakeholders

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 years or more of previous healthcare insurance experience, preferred
  • Clearances: Act 33, 34, and 73
  • Proof of annual Flu Shot

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • Work experience with insurance companies
  • Ability to navigate the internet using various web portals
  • Clear communication skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Data entry skills
  • Well-organized
