Job Summary:

The Boom Truck Driver is responsible for transporting materials to specified destinations, working with others to ensure timely delivery. Key duties include:

  • Completing daily checklists and fuel logs, handing them in daily
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Maintaining radio or telephone contact with the Yard Dispatcher for instructions, resolving problems, or being dispatched to new locations
  • Maintaining truck logs according to state and federal regulations, filling in all information and turning them in to the Yard Dispatcher daily
  • Maintaining delivery paperwork according to company and customer requirements
  • Securing cargo for transport by positioning cleats and load straps around items
  • Cleaning, inspecting, and servicing the vehicle, including daily pre-trip inspections and completing pre- and post-trip inspection reports and service requests
  • Keeping trucks clean and presentable at all times, washing and brooming out vehicles weekly
  • Operating equipment on the vehicle to load, unload, or disperse cargo or materials
  • Assisting in loading and unloading the truck manually
  • Obtaining customer signatures for goods delivered and delivery charges
  • Logging goods picked up from job sites for return

Requirements:

  • Possess or be able to obtain a DOT medical card and a valid MA CDL of Class and Endorsements applicable to current fleet assignments
  • Complete mandatory DOT background check information, if your background history is substandard as deemed by Koopman Lumber, we retain the right to terminate your employment
  • Drivers with Class B License may expect stake body, flatbed dump, or box truck assignment; Class A License may additionally expect semi-trailer assignment
  • Possess a class 1-c or better Hydraulics license

Work Environment:

This role is a full-time position at Koopman Lumber Inc, with a shift of days. The work environment is a retail yard, and the position is non-exempt.
