Job Description

The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist - Sonography performs a variety of ultrasound procedures using advanced equipment and techniques to obtain high-quality results. This role requires strong knowledge of relevant anatomy, physiology, and infection control procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform multiple modality ultrasound procedures, including abdominal, Ob/Gyn, cardiac, vascular, musculoskeletal, and small parts
  • Examine patient clinical history to identify examination purpose and expand scope as necessary
  • Utilize appropriate protection measures during procedures and assist physicians in procedure rooms and operating rooms
  • Prepare patients for procedures, obtain clinical history, and explain examination purpose to patients
  • Record statistics, perform daily maintenance of ultrasound lab, and report malfunctions
  • Act as a resource to other staff, physicians, and students regarding equipment, techniques, and studies
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited program or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer
  • Certification in two of the following modalities: Ob/Gyn, cardiac, vascular, musculoskeletal, or small parts
  • Knowledge of complex sonographic methods, instrumentation, and techniques
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with healthcare providers
