Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Shipping Team Lead to join our team at SoundOff Signal. As a key member of our shipping department, you will be responsible for leading a team of shipping professionals and ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of our products to customers worldwide.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics and supply chain management, with experience in planning, coordinating, and executing shipping activities. You will be responsible for training and developing our shipping team members, providing regular feedback and coaching, and ensuring that all eligible shipments are coordinated, executed, and documented correctly.

As a Shipping Team Lead, you will work closely with our scheduling, customer service, and assembly departments to identify and resolve obstacles to on-time shipment. You will also be responsible for developing process work instructions to meet KPM's and customer requirements, assessing daily department requirements, capacity, and capability, and responding accordingly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of shipping professionals and ensure the timely and accurate delivery of products to customers worldwide.
  • Train and develop shipping team members, providing regular feedback and coaching.
  • Develop process work instructions to meet KPM's and customer requirements.
  • Assess daily department requirements, capacity, and capability, and respond accordingly.
  • Work closely with scheduling, customer service, and assembly departments to identify and resolve obstacles to on-time shipment.
  • Coordinate fulfillment of customer requirements with excellence and accuracy.
  • Manage shipment order changes and exceptions.
  • Verify and maintain records on outgoing shipments.
  • Research, analyze, and solve problems with daily shipping transactions.
  • Promptly address after-shipment customer concerns, such as lost or damaged shipments, missing or excess material, or incorrect charges.
  • File carrier claims and investigations.
Requirements
  • High school diploma required, associate's degree preferred.
  • 4 years of related experience.
  • Basics of planning and scheduling as they relate to shipping activities.
  • Basics of business administration and management, and related interactions within the shipping department.
  • Geographical aptitude to understand and guide freight routing.
  • Transportation principles and methods, including relative costs and benefits.
  • Packaging industry standards, terminology, and practices.
  • Export compliance regulations.
  • Transportation regulations, domestic and international.
  • Basic understanding of SoundOff products, applications, and markets.
  • Maintain calm in urgent situations to resolve issues with due diligence and reasonable care.
  • Multi-tasking and strategic delegation.
  • Self-motivated and self-controlled.
  • Communication clarity.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Expert computer and keyboarding skills, proficient with MS Office Suite.
  • Fluency using ConnectShip software at User 1 and User 2 levels.
  • Effective time management.
  • Forklift or other industrial lift truck as needed.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude, including troubleshooting ability with department equipment.
  • Organized, detailed, deadline-oriented, dependable, persistent, independent.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Able to stand, sit, walk, bend, twist, rotate, and/or reach throughout an entire shift.
Working Conditions
  • Light manufacturing environment.
  • Fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Low noise level in a temperature-controlled setting.
  • Required to work shift hours (four 10-hour days or five 8-hour days) with occasional overtime.
