Job Description

The Town of Brookline is seeking part-time Certified Lifeguards for the Evelyn Kirrane Aquatics Center. To be eligible, applicants must have current certifications in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and CPR for the Professional Rescuer, as well as be at least 16 years old.

The center will provide a FREE American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certification course for qualified lifeguard candidates, provided they work for a minimum of 6 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months after completion of the course.

Applicants must be able to complete the following:

  • Swim 300 yards continuously with rhythmic breathing
  • Complete a timed event under 1 minute and 40 seconds:

o Swim 20 yards

o Surface dive to retrieve a 10lb brick

o Swim 20 yards on back holding the 10lb brick over the chest

o Place brick on the side of the pool

o Climb out of the pool without the use of a ladder or stairs

  • Tread water for 2 minutes using only legs

Hours and Pay: Several shifts available, including early mornings, daytime, evenings, and weekends. Starting pay is $18.00 hourly.
