Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Specialist to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a Patient Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support in an inpatient or outpatient setting.

Key Responsibilities

Assist patients with personal care and daily living activities, promoting optimal recovery and well-being.
Perform basic nursing skills, as delegated by a registered nurse, to support patient health and wellness.
Capture and record patient data, including vital signs, weights, and measurements of intake and output.
Report changes in patient condition and abnormal findings in patient data promptly to the registered nurse.
Assist patients with personal hygiene needs and provide support with activities of daily living.
Assist patients with exercise, ambulation, and other mobility needs.
Obtain, label, and forward specimens for diagnostic testing.
Document all patient care activities and maintain accurate records.
Assist professional healthcare staff with performing physical examinations and patient procedures.
Provide a safe environment and safe delivery of care, observing for environmental factors affecting patient/staff safety.
Identify patients prior to any intervention and maintain safe transfer and patient positioning practices.
Clean equipment and perform safety checks as directed.
Report incidents involving patients, staff, and/or visitors promptly to the RN or supervisor using the institution's quality reporting process.
Demonstrate knowledge of institution's fire/emergency/infection control programs.
Perform administrative support functions, including medical record duties, supply stocking, inventory, and ordering.
Complete additional duties as directed, including scheduling diagnostic procedures, meeting and greeting patients, or delivering specific supplies and pharmaceuticals.
Maintain necessary skills and competencies, achieving and maintaining competency in the use of equipment.
Identify strengths and opportunities for professional development and goals for self-improvement.
Complete annual mandatory training activities and regulatory in-service requirements within established timeframes.
Requirements

High School Graduate or Equivalent.
No experience required, but relevant experience preferred.
Certified Nursing Aide certification (CNA) through the Virginia Board of Nursing.
American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
Compensation Range

$15.37 - $23.82 Hourly
