Medical Coding Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Medical Coding Specialist to join our dynamic team at ClearSky Health. This role is ideal for an individual who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and has a keen eye for detail.
About the RoleThis is a full-time position that requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain accuracy while meeting deadlines. As a Medical Coding Specialist, you will be responsible for reviewing and assigning diagnostic and procedure codes to patient records for reimbursement and data purposes, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
The successful candidate will possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. A strong understanding of coding principles, including ICD-10-CM, is essential, as well as the ability to remain current on federal legislative changes and maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
Job Duties- Assigns codes using the International Classification of Disease-10th Revision-Clinical modification (ICD-10-CM) ensuring that the codes are accurate and sequenced correctly in accordance with government and insurance regulations.
- Receives and reviews patient charts and documents for accuracy, identifying discrepancies and following up with providers on any documentation that is insufficient or unclear.
- Queries physicians for clarification and diagnostic details as needed for accuracy and specificity in coding.
- Remains up-to-date and knowledgeable of coding and diagnostic procedures.
- 3 years medical coding experience OR coding certification (AHIMA or AAPC) required.
- Rehabilitation coding experience preferred.
- Associate's degree in related field preferred.
