Correctional Nurse Professional

About the Job: Amergis is seeking a dedicated Correctional Nurse Professional to join our team in Paducah, KY. This role requires a Registered Nurse with experience in correctional healthcare and a passion for providing exceptional patient care.
Job Summary:
- The Correctional Nurse Professional will work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, correctional officers, and administrators to ensure the well-being of the incarcerated population.
- This individual will utilize their knowledge to address the specific challenges and limitations of the correctional environment while providing routine and emergency healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process
- Conduct health histories on newly-admitted inmates and make referrals as necessary
- Determine the need for emergency hospital care and administer medication according to standard operating procedures
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data and information from healthcare members and document actual and/or potential nursing diagnoses
- Develop and implement patient education plans
- Revised patient plans based on evaluation, changes in medical plans, and effective/ineffective interventions
- Document patient responses to nursing and other interventions
- Supervise, train, and direct other healthcare professionals
Requirements:
- Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which the nurse practices
- Minimum of one year of correctional healthcare experience preferred
- Compliance with relevant professional standards of practice
- Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
- Current CPR certification if applicable
- TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Meet all federal, state, and local requirements
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
- Computer proficiency required
Compensation: The estimated annual salary for this role is $65,000-$80,000, depending on experience.
