Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our Interventional Radiology team at Carle Foundation Hospital. As an Angiography Specialist, you will play a critical role in conducting special procedures and working closely with radiologists to obtain accurate results for diagnostic purposes and interventional treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform special procedures in a manner that ensures accurate and complete examinations within guidelines, policies, procedures, and standards of Medical Imaging.
  • Exhibit competency in performing and filming angiographic and CT radiographic procedures.
  • Deviate from routines when patient conditions require it or at the request of the radiologist.
  • Knowledgeable of catheters, guidewires, and sterile trays and prepares these items as necessary.
  • Obtain and document accurate pre and post-procedure information as applicable.
  • Follow JCAHO patient safety goals.
  • Maintain quality care throughout the procedure.
  • Practice radiation protection through shielding whenever possible.
  • Demonstrate a practical problem-solving approach to patient moving and handling issues.
  • Demonstrate skills to promote patient and staff safety through appropriate use of lift equipment.
  • Perform patient bedside lab testing and associated quality control in compliance with medical provider's orders and hospital lab procedures and policies.
Requirements
  • Maintain working knowledge of equipment to function in all areas of special procedures.
  • Technically knowledgeable of equipment operation, including hardware and software.
  • Perform reasonable troubleshooting.
  • Check and observe equipment for general safety and appropriate operation.
  • Report equipment problems through appropriate channels.
  • Maintain clean work area, check and stock all supplies in their specific area, and verify pertinent accessories assigned to that room.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Perform support functions of the Medical Imaging Department to ensure patient expectations and needs are met.
  • Promptly process films and paperwork to ensure timely turn-around.
  • Maintain and coordinate patient flow to ensure efficient and expedient patient care, transporting patients to and from the department as required.
  • Maintain and ensure a safe environment for patients and personnel and maintenance of the QA, QC, QI programs.
  • Share knowledge, guide, and encourage fellow technologists/students with proper department protocol and procedures.
  • Display a professional attitude in the area toward fellow technologists/students, fostering mutual respect and creating a productive learning environment.
