Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to install, service, and repair environmental-control systems in various settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layout.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mount compressor and condenser units on platforms or floors using hand tools.
  • Follow blueprints or engineering specifications to ensure accurate installations.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and install ductwork and chassis parts.
  • Use portable metalworking tools and welding equipment to complete tasks.
  • Install evaporator units in chassis or air-duct systems, using hand tools.
  • Cut and bend tubing to correct length and shape, using cutting and bending equipment and tools.
  • Cut and thread pipe, using machine-threading or hand-threading equipment.
  • Join tubing or pipes to refrigerating units using sleeves, couplings, or unions, and solder joints.
  • Use torches to form complete circuits for refrigerant.
  • Install expansion and discharge valves in circuits.
  • Connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels.
  • Connect control panels to power sources.
  • Install air and water filters in completed installations.
  • Inject small amounts of refrigerant into compressors to test systems and add Freon gas to build up prescribed operating pressures.
  • Observe pressure and vacuum gauges and adjust controls to ensure proper operation.
  • Test joints and connections for gas leaks, using gauges or soap and water solutions.
  • Wrap pipes in insulation batting and secure them in place with cement or wire bands.
  • Replace defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring to repair installed units.
  • Manage and operate boiler and chiller plants by maintaining system temperatures and equipment runtimes through the BAS system.
  • May install, repair, and service air conditioners, chillers, and cooling towers ranging from one and a half to two hundred tons in laboratory and office buildings.

Requirements:

  • North American Technician Excellence (NATE) HVAC Service Technician Certification.
  • HVAC Excellence Professional Level Certification.
  • UA Star HVAC Mastery Certification.
  • Union workers shall provide current Journeyman certification.
  • Stationary Engineers License if required by City Code.
  • Refrigeration Operator License if required by City Code.
