School Support Assistant

The School Aide is a vital member of our educational team, providing support to students with instructional and behavioral needs under the supervision of the special education department. This role requires a high level of dedication, patience, and understanding, as you work closely with students to help them achieve their academic and personal goals.
Key Responsibilities- Assist students with IEP objectives, including math, reading, speech, and independent skills, in one-on-one or group settings.
- Facilitate teacher-directed learning activities, including lesson plans, worksheets, and reinforcement systems.
- Communicate effectively with teachers and other staff members to ensure seamless support for students.
- Accompany students during recess, lunch, and community experiences, promoting socialization and inclusion.
- Adhere to confidentiality requirements and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
- Assist with activities of prescribed programs, including those written by related service personnel.
- Support students in developing independent skills through self-care activities, such as toileting, clothing routines, and personal hygiene.
- Participate in behavior management techniques, as directed by the teacher and/or other school professionals.
- Assist with clerical duties, including preparing materials, assignment scoring, and maintaining a clean and organized classroom.
- Provide physical support, including transfers and ambulation, as needed.
- Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
- Participate in Amergis' Competency program, as applicable.
- Hold current CPR certification, if applicable.
- Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Successfully complete new hire training, as applicable to the job site.
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
- Exhibit strong communication skills and proficiency in the English language.
- Demonstrate computer proficiency.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
