Job Summary:

Cafeteria workers play a vital role in the daily operations of Buckingham County Public Schools. As a Cafeteria Worker, you will be responsible for preparing and serving food to students and staff, maintaining kitchen work areas, and adhering to established sanitary techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare food according to standardized recipes and follow state-mandated preparation guidelines.
• Serve food to students and school staff in a timely and efficient manner.
• Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in clean and orderly condition.
• Follow established sanitary techniques while preparing and serving food and handling clean utensils.
• Perform job activities in a timely and efficient manner.
• Check temperature logs for consistency.
• Attend state-mandated Professional Development under the direction of the Food Services Director.
• Demonstrate good moral character and possess qualities necessary for working effectively with students, staff, administrators, and parents.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in food preparation, preferably in a school setting.
• Working knowledge of sanitation practices involved in food preparation.
• Ability to work with other people and communicate effectively.
• Good physical health with ability to do lifting of at least 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, walk, and bend.

Working Conditions:

This is a 10-month contract position with 6.5 work hours per day. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment and maintain a high level of professionalism at all times.
