Job Summary

Spectrum Brands seeks a seasoned Sourcing Manager to drive growth and profitability in our Home and Personal Care Appliances division. This role requires developing and maintaining robust sources of supply, taking ownership of product costs and capital expenditures, and identifying opportunities for cost improvement and value engineering.

Primary Responsibilities

Analytical (70%)

  1. Vendor Identification: Evaluate potential vendors for the manufacturing of global product platforms, considering factors such as quality, reliability, and cost.
  2. Total Cost of Ownership Evaluation: Gather quote packages, assess proposals, and select the most suitable supplier based on total cost of ownership.
  3. Cost Improvement Initiatives: Proactively drive and negotiate initiatives focused on cost improvement and avoidance, working closely with cross-functional teams.
  4. Cost Analysis: Provide current and historical product costs to support project planning, product development, and financial analysis.
  5. Cost Change Oversight: Review and approve all cost changes for products within assigned categories, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  6. Capacity Analysis: Analyze monthly demand forecasts to ensure vendors maintain sufficient tooling and production capacity to meet demand.

Managerial (20%)

  1. Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including cross-functional teams and overseas suppliers.
  2. Quarterly Business Reviews: Conduct Quarterly Business Reviews with suppliers, utilizing both Teams and in-person meetings to discuss performance and address issues.
  3. Supplier Relationship Management: Cultivate supplier relationships, assess performance, and proactively address and resolve any issues that may arise.

Administrative (10%)

  1. Change Management: Oversee the Price Change Notification and Award Letter processes, ensuring seamless execution and minimal disruption.
  2. Expense Tracking: Update the capital expense tracker to ensure timely payments to suppliers, maintaining accurate records and facilitating smooth financial operations.
  3. Issue Troubleshooting: Address any issues related to Accounts Payable, SAP systems, SharePoint, and other administrative functions as needed, providing timely support to resolve problems.

Education and Experience Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in a business, procurement, or related discipline, with 0-2 years of experience in a Sourcing role/function. A financial understanding of commodity/currency exchange and experience working with global suppliers are highly desirable. The ability to manage multiple projects with cross-functional teams and prioritize tasks effectively is essential.

  5. Clear and Concise Summarization: Ability to distill complex information into straightforward summaries that resonate with diverse audiences.
  6. Effective Presentation Skills: Comfort in presenting information confidently in both virtual settings (e.g., Microsoft Teams) and in-person meetings.
  7. Process Improvement Mindset: Strong understanding of business processes, with an ability to identify opportunities for enhancement and drive initiatives to completion.
  8. Consensus-Building: Capable of facilitating discussions that lead to effective communication and consensus among team members.
  9. Willingness to Travel: Open to domestic and international travel as required.

Work Environment

The working conditions are normal for an office environment. Spectrum Brands offers a hybrid work environment, with Monday and Friday spent working from home and Tuesday-Thursday in the Middleton, WI office.
