Mission Edge San Diego is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our Board of Directors as a Board Member. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of our organization and contributing to the success of our mission.

About the Role

The Board Member will serve as a liaison to the general membership, working closely with the Executive Director, Board Chair, and other board members to achieve our vision and mission. Key responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with the Executive Director to achieve our vision and mission
  • Acting as a spokesperson and public advocate for Mission Edge San Diego
  • Participating in strategic planning and decision-making
  • Discussing issues confronting the organization with the Executive Director and Board Chair
  • Helping guide and mediate Board actions on organizational priorities and governance concerns
  • Reviewing issues of concern with the Executive Director and Board Chair
  • Monitoring financial planning and reporting
  • Playing a leadership role in fundraising activities
  • Helping recruit new Board members
  • Working with the Board Chair to evaluate the performance of the Executive Director and the organization as a whole
Qualifications

We are seeking individuals with a strong commitment to our mission and a proven track record of success in nonprofit governance. Ideal candidates will have:

  • Demonstrated success as a nonprofit board member
  • A commitment to and understanding of our beneficiaries and mission
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of our beneficiaries
Term of Service

Board members are elected by the Board at-large and serve for a two-year term. They are eligible to be re-elected to a second, consecutive two-year term at the discretion of the Board at-large. Service on our Board of Directors is without remuneration, except with prior approval from the Executive Director for administrative support, travel, and accommodation costs related to Board duties.", "lang_code": "en"}
