Role Summary

As a CPU Physical Design Engineer at Apple, you will play a critical role in driving the design convergence of CPU blocks through logic synthesis and place-and-route tools, targeting ambitious performance, power, and area (PPA) goals. You will be responsible for delivering block-level physical design and closing backend flows, electrical requirements, and improving silicon yield.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive RTL-to-GDS design convergence through logic synthesis and place-and-route tools
  • Responsible for block-level physical design delivery and closure of backend flows, electrical requirements, and silicon yield improvement
  • Collaborate with internal CAD and PD methodology teams on industry-standard synthesis/PNR tool features and optimizations
  • Work with x-functional toplevel teams on CPU floorplan, timing, power, reliability, and testability
  • Collaborate with custom IP teams to define and co-optimize memory macros, library standard cells for improved design PPA
Requirements
  • Minimum BS and 10+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals in logic design, digital circuits, and deep submicron technology
  • Proficiency in using industry-standard logic synthesis, PnR, STA, and power analysis tools
  • Programming and scripting ability (Perl, TCL) with strong fundamentals
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
