Dental Hygienist Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Dental Hygienist to join our team at Akahi Associates, LLC. As a key member of our dental healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and promoting oral health in a fast-paced military treatment facility setting.
Responsibilities:
• Examine patients' oral cavities, including the mouth, throat, and pharynx, and record conditions of teeth and surrounding tissues.
• Refer patients to dentists who have abnormalities, such as cavities, defective fillings, suspicious growths, or periodontal disease.
• Apply desensitizing and other topical agents to treat abnormalities, including gingivitis and oral ulceration.
• Instruct patients in proper oral hygiene care using materials such as teeth models, displays, slides, toothbrushes, dental floss, disclosing tablets, and mirrors.
• Demonstrate proper techniques of brushing, flossing, and using necessary periodontal aids.
• Explain the common causes of tooth decay and its relationship to general diet.
• Take impressions and construct sports/safety mouth guards and soft night guards for vital bleaching.
• Polish restorations and apply pit and fissure sealants.
• Chair-side dental assisting when directed by the OIC of the dental clinic.
• Record patients treated.
• Check and maintain instruments to ensure working condition.
• Clean, sharpen, and sterilize instruments.
Qualifications:
• A graduate of a dental hygiene program that qualifies you to obtain a state license.
• Successful passage of the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination (NBDHE) and possession of an active, current, valid, and unrestricted license in at least one of the 50 states, and/or the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or territories of the United States.
• Certification in basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) approved by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association and reading Healthcare Provider Course in the subjects listed prior to beginning performance at the Dental Health.
• One year of experience in the last two years prior to contract execution as a dental hygienist.
