Job Title: Drafting Technician for Mechanical Engineering Projects

TalentBurst is seeking an experienced Drafting Technician to join our team in Wilmington, NC. This is a contract position with the opportunity for extension and additional projects.

About the Job:

This role will involve assisting in the creation, revision, and storage of electronic drawing files using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of ASME/ANSI drafting standards and be proficient in the use of Autodesk Vault software.

The successful candidate will be responsible for converting legacy hand-drawn and AutoCAD drawings into 3D models and associative drawings, creating 2D drawings from existing 3D models, collecting data from engineering teams, and incorporating information into appropriate drawings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Correct redlined models/drawings issued by drafting lead or engineering/development teams
  • Convert legacy hand drawn and AutoCAD drawings into 3D models and associative drawings
  • Create 2D drawings from existing 3D models from other users
  • Collect data from engineering teams and incorporate information into appropriate drawing

Work Environment:

  • Employment will be through a third-party on a contract basis, with contracts typically lasting one year and often extended with satisfactory performance and additional project workload
  • Hybrid work schedule available (work from home 3-4 days per week)
  • M-F, 8am-5pm base schedule; OT is often required: 45 hours per week target

Required Education:

  • Candidates should possess a technical degree such as A.A.S. Mechanical Engineering Technology, A.O.S. Drafting/CAD, or related certification
  • Alternatively, candidates without degrees must demonstrate proficiency in 2D and 3D drafting and at least 2 years of Drafting/CAD Technician and Mechanical Engineering experience

Estimated Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience
