Telecommunications Network Specialist

Overview:
As a Telecommunications Network Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting the survey, design, engineering, and implementation of various telecommunications and information systems at government facilities in Washington, DC. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and the ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the survey, design, installation, and integration of various federal and commercial systems.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and design packages, and install network equipment, including associated cable management systems.
- Conduct site surveys to support engineering and project management requirements for design, installation, integration, and troubleshooting.
- Perform installation, deinstallation, and relocation activities, including copper and fiber cabling, wiring systems, and associated hardware and software.
- Rack and stack patch panels, including grounding and power components, and associated network hardware.
- Establish and maintain rapport with customers, identifying solutions and suggesting methods to improve system deployments.
- Communicate effectively with technical and management personnel to inform customers and management of current progress, schedule concerns, and issues.
- Verify receipt of equipment and materials and resolve any discrepancies.
- Inspect and review hardware installation, wiring, power, grounding, and system database validation to ensure quality installation.
Requirements:
- Four years of experience in installation, repair, and maintenance of electronic computer-based systems in voice and/or data transmission facilities.
- Four years of experience with the installation of telecommunications communications equipment, including hardware, relay racks, cabinets, termination, and testing of copper and fiber cable systems.
- Ability to obtain BICSII Level II Copper and Fiber certification within one year of hire.
- Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and OSHA 10 certification.
- Working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) and BICSI Standards.
Estimated Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to physically walk throughout the day and climb ladders.
- Ability to work on your feet for extended periods.
- Ability to lift 35 lbs, work overhead from a ladder, and work below computer floors.
Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Security Clearance.
