About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant I to join our team in the Nursing & Health Science Department at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. This is a full-time position with a salary range of $52,449.02-$73,712.34 and benefits that include 75% employer-paid health insurance.

Job Description

This role provides administrative support to the Adult Nursing Department Chairperson and faculty members. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing varied administrative assistance with projects and assignments requiring independent decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Maintaining confidential records, including faculty evaluations, contract renewals, tenure and promotion, and personnel records
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for students, faculty, administration, staff, alumni, and external constituents
  • Receiving and routing incoming telephone inquiries and resolving issues as appropriate
  • Preparing meeting agendas, correspondence, and reports for faculty organization meetings
  • Processing part-time faculty contracts, buy-out contracts, and other related documents
  • Overseeing and directing workflow, communications, and processes within the office, including attendance tracking, teaching assignments, course syllabi, student locator forms, and key requests
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of two years of experience in office management, office administration, business administration, or business management, with a focus on purchasing, personnel management, budgeting, accounting, records management, work simplification, grants management, contract administration, or program management
  • Knowledge of office management principles, practices, and techniques
  • Ability to understand, explain, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, specifications, standards, and guidelines governing assigned unit activities
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills
