Job Title: Parks and Wildlife Department Communications OperatorDescription:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Communications Operator to join our team at the Parks and Wildlife Department. As a key member of our communications team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, managing emergency situations, and ensuring the effective communication of critical information.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to emergency situations, including police and fire incidents, using standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Maintain accurate records and reports of all communications activities
  • Provide excellent customer service to the public, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure seamless communication during emergency situations

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in criminal justice or a related field preferred
  • 1-8 years of experience in dispatch, telephone, police, and emergency management communications work
  • Valid Texas driver's license and ability to obtain necessary certifications within six months of employment
  • Ability to pass a thorough background investigation and maintain good moral character

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Telecommunicator license and DPS certifications
  • Experience as a Police Communication Operator
  • College coursework in Criminal Justice
