Pricing Analyst Job DescriptionObjective: To analyze The Granite Group's pricing strategy to ensure the appropriate balance between market pricing and profitability.
Position Explanation: The primary purpose of this position is to ensure accurate price structure for all Granite Group customers and products through market research and internal pricing analysis. The individual in this role works closely with the Director of Pricing to strategize and support company initiatives of margin enhancement, customer and product segment optimization, and general pricing and margin awareness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide analysis to ensure the pricing of goods and services stays competitive in the market.
- Maintain historical pricing data on the organization and its competitors.
- Identify and explain pricing and margin trends.
- Act as an integration point between pricing and the business teams.
- Work with Product Managers to gain understanding of all products and their respective market to make the proper pricing proposals with respect to marketing guidance and business objectives.
- Discuss pricing with branch and sales team members to gain feedback and assist with the development and evaluation of alternative pricing structures.
- Analyze current company pricing strategy to provide insights and opportunities for improvement.
- Review contract price records to analyze adoption, trends, and room for margin enhancement.
- Update costing prices in epaCUBE / CSD as vendor pricing data arrives.
- Safeguard profitability by analyzing net costing changes as pricing programs or individual prices change.
- Research vendor invoice discrepancies and determine root cause.
- Act as a contact for the branch system and sales force when questions arise regarding pricing, competitive threats, and overall pricing strategy.
- Assist Pricing Specialists in their daily functions as a means for providing backup during peak periods.
- Apply marketing strategy and pricing fundamentals to set price for new offerings.
- Provide technical expertise and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot concerns and keep the business moving forward.
- Work on special projects as needed for Pricing and Finance Departments

- Good math ability (division, multiplication, addition, subtraction, formulas).
- A Bachelor's degree is required and a Master's degree is desirable. Preferably in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Business or related field of study.
- Minimum of 5-8 years' experience in Pricing or Financial Analysis.
- Industry knowledge and experience is a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills required.
