State and Local Tax Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled State and Local Tax Associate to join our team at RSM US LLP. As a State and Local Tax Associate, you will play a key role in providing exceptional tax services to our clients, ensuring compliance with state and local tax regulations, and identifying opportunities for tax savings.
Key Responsibilities- Integrate state and local tax services with existing clients to ensure seamless delivery of tax services.
- Complete tax planning and research tasks to identify opportunities for tax savings and ensure compliance with state and local tax regulations.
- Develop a deep understanding of state and local tax regulations and accounting pronouncements to provide expert advice to clients.
- Review clients' current tax processes to identify inefficiencies and provide enhancements to improve tax efficiency and reduce tax exposure.
- Work with clients' information technology personnel to obtain data on historical purchasing and sales to analyze for reporting requirements, audit procedures, and potential refund or credits.
- Assist clients with evaluating sales/use tax software systems that meet their compliance needs and support the implementation process.
- Minimum B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent from an accredited university.
- Accounting major.
- Travel to assigned client locations is required. Must have access to and ability to arrange for use of reliable modes of transportation to those locations.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.
- Working toward the successful completion of the CPA exam - tax associates have the opportunity to obtain the audit hours required for full certification.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work effectively on a team.
- Ability to work and multitask in a fast-paced environment.

At RSM, an employee's pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions, including education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
Compensation Range: $58,080 - $69,300
