Job Responsibilities

The Vascular Technologist is responsible for delivering healthcare services by utilizing sound energy to assist in the diagnosis or treatment of patients. This includes performing ultrasonic imaging and related procedures across various ultrasound applications. Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing high-quality vascular scans for patients of all ages, from neonatal to geriatric.
  • Exhibiting expertise in vascular sonography.
  • Identifying venous anatomy in both upper and lower extremities.
  • Recognizing collateral venous pathways in the presence of vascular disease.
  • Executing Venous Duplex protocols for conditions such as DVT or Venous Insufficiency.
  • Identifying arterial anatomy in upper and lower extremities.
  • Conducting arterial flow examinations following established protocols.
  • Identifying both extra cranial and intracranial anatomy.
  • Performing Carotid Duplex examinations.
  • Operating vascular ultrasound equipment with efficiency and precision.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate's Degree or higher in a relevant technological field.
  • Completion of a two-year allied health education program related to patient care or graduation from an accredited program in diagnostic medical sonography, cardiac sonography, or vascular technology.

Experience:

  • Required: Minimum of one year of experience as a diagnostic medical sonographer.
  • Preferred: One year of experience as a Radiologic Technician.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Preferred: Registered Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Sonography.
