Under the supervision of the Facility Maintenance Director and Facility Maintenance Supervisor, this Janitorial Worker will perform a variety of cleaning and sanitation duties to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and orderliness of assigned rooms, buildings, and related City facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Sweep, scrub, and wax floors to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Vacuum and clean rugs and carpets to ensure a clean and healthy space.
- Clean restrooms and empty and clean waste receptacles to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
- Wash and dust windows, walls, and blinds to maintain a clean and well-maintained appearance.
- Clean walkways, sidewalks, and parking lots to ensure a safe and accessible environment.
- Inspect buildings for safety, fire, and sanitary hazards and report to supervisor to ensure a safe working environment.
- Operate a variety of electrical cleaning equipment to perform cleaning tasks efficiently and effectively.
- Maintain janitorial equipment and supplies to ensure a clean and well-maintained environment.
- Perform various tasks in moving or rearranging furniture, desks, and other equipment to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Set up rooms for meetings to ensure a clean and well-maintained environment.
- Answer general questions from the public and City staff to provide excellent customer service.
- May assist in training less experienced staff to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow.
- Good customer service skills to provide excellent service to the public and City staff.
- Ability to work with other employees as a team to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Knowledge of methods of cleaning and preserving floors, walls, and fixtures to maintain a clean and well-maintained environment.
- Knowledge of cleaning materials and disinfectants, equipment, and tools used in janitorial work to perform cleaning tasks efficiently and effectively.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices to ensure a safe working environment.
- Ability to use tools required in janitorial work to perform cleaning tasks efficiently and effectively.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds to perform cleaning tasks efficiently and effectively.
- Ability to bend, reach, and kneel to perform cleaning tasks efficiently and effectively.
