Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at the City of Houston. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining various types of mechanical equipment and machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and repair mechanical equipment and components
  • Operate vehicles to and from work sites
  • Repair and maintain equipment and parts
  • Practice equipment and parts conservation
  • Perform additional maintenance activities such as painting, a/c repairs, carpentry, carpet, plumbing, concrete, and roofing repairs
  • Rehabilitate and monitor equipment, facilities, and systems
  • Provide preventive maintenance to equipment, buildings, facilities, and systems
  • May lead and train lower-level personnel

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Specialized training in principles, procedures, practices, routines, or techniques in a specific area or trade
  • Vocational competence in the operation of Mechanical or Electronic equipment
  • One year of experience in building or mechanical maintenance
  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • Comply with the City of Houston's policy on driving
  • Preferred: Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

Background Requirements:

  • Pass drug screen and background check
  • Must not have a criminal background or convictions
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances where required
