Job Summary

The Department Chair of Teacher Education is the primary administrative officer responsible for overseeing the department's operation, faculty, curriculum, and budget. This key leadership role requires a terminal degree in an academic discipline housed within the department.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Leadership and Management: Provide strategic direction for the department, fostering a positive academic culture and promoting faculty development.
  2. Curriculum Oversight: Ensure the curriculum remains relevant, rigorous, and aligned with institutional goals while supporting faculty in course development and assessment.
  3. Budget and Resource Management: Develop and manage the departmental budget, allocate resources effectively, and seek funding opportunities to support departmental initiatives.
  4. Faculty Recruitment and Evaluation: Oversee faculty hiring, onboarding, and evaluations, ensuring a diverse and high-quality faculty body that meets the department's needs.
  5. Student Advocacy: Address student concerns, advocate for student needs, and ensure a supportive learning environment.
  6. Collaboration and Outreach: Foster relationships with other departments, industry partners, and alumni to enhance the department's reputation and opportunities for students and faculty.
  7. Research and Scholarship: Encourage research activities among faculty and students, promoting a culture of inquiry and innovation.
Requirements

A Ph.D. in one of the disciplines in the department is required. At least 5 years of experience in higher education in a leadership role is preferred.
