Job Title: Peer Specialist

At Services For The Underserved, Inc., we are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Specialist to join our team. As a Peer Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with mental health challenges, promoting recovery, and fostering a sense of community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage with participants in a non-judgmental and empathetic manner, fostering a sense of trust and rapport.
  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to promote community awareness of S:US services and encourage help-seeking behavior.
  • Collaborate with participants to clarify their personal visions and develop their wellness toolkit, promoting self-awareness and life skills.
  • Advocate for participants within the team and larger community, ensuring their needs are met and their rights are respected.
  • Maintain open and frequent communication with the team, reporting safety concerns and other critical information.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Lived experience of mental health challenges, preferably including experience with psychosis.
  • Peer Certification preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to empathize with participants.
  • One to two years of active participation in mental health self-help activities, peer support, or peer advocacy programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office suite and Windows.
