Position Overview

As a Controls Technician at LONG, your role will involve assisting clients by programming temperature control systems according to project requirements. Leveraging your knowledge in the commercial HVAC sector, you will carry out installation, warranty, emergency, and maintenance services on existing systems.

Compensation Range: $25 - $36 per hour, with potential profit-sharing opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program databases for all supported systems to align with specified operational sequences and equipment manufacturer guidelines, adhering to LONG standards and contractual obligations.
  • Conduct calibration and verification of control systems, ensuring compliance with specified operational sequences and commissioning requirements.
  • Support the graphics coordinator and/or provide necessary labor and expertise for the development and delivery of graphical user interfaces as required for projects, in accordance with LONG standards and contractual agreements.
  • Educate client personnel on the operation and maintenance of temperature control systems and energy conservation practices.
  • Provide updates for drawings and maintain records of equipment for as-built documentation (submit all redlined drafts to application engineers).
  • Inform the service sales manager of additional sales opportunities and promote service contracts while executing start-up, commissioning, and owner training tasks.
Essential Qualifications
  • 1+ years of technical school education and 1+ years of experience in DDC/BAS control system start-up, checkout, and service OR 2+ years of experience in DDC/BAS control system start-up, checkout, and service.
  • Valid Driver's License.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Comprehensive understanding of HVAC, control systems, building automation, electrical systems, energy management, fire alarm, and smoke removal systems, along with engineering, installation, and construction practices.
  • Proficient in programming and troubleshooting with KMC, Schneider, Tridium/Honeywell, and other comparable systems.

Physical Requirements
  • Regular sitting, lifting, bending, and kneeling.
  • Capability to lift 50 lbs from floor to countertop and vice versa.
  • Able to climb ladders and perform job functions at required heights.

  • Exposure to inclement weather conditions.
