Strategic Operations Director

Federal Aviation Administration is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Operations Director to serve as the Chief of Staff to the Executive Director and the Deputy Executive Director in the Office of Accident Investigation and Prevention.
About the Role:
The ideal candidate will have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-J, FG/GS 14 level. Key responsibilities include managing front office operations, directing staff activities, providing technical oversight, and advising other positions throughout the organization.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations, engage with subordinate managers and employees to identify, prevent, and resolve problems and complex aviation and technical issues.
- Develop and approve solutions to current and anticipated problems that cross organizational lines and disciplines.
- Establish and implement administrative processes to ensure efficient and effective operations of the front office.
- Make decisions as delegated by the Executive Director.
- Ensure advice on policy application is provided promptly and effectively regarding Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and current policies related to the integration of drones and emerging technologies into the National Airspace System (NAS).
- Facilitate communication and collaboration across different organizations to ensure timeliness, efficiency, and productivity to achieve leadership success.
- Direct the work of subordinate employees and/or managers for multiple organizational units/projects/programs.
- Participate in strategic planning for the FAA and make commitments for a major organization.
- Oversee the implementation of large-scale initiatives and special projects, ensuring alignment with the organization's objectives.
- Define, acquire, and allocate budget, staff, and other resources to accomplish objectives for multiple organizational units/projects/programs.
- Lead and integrate the budget planning processes for assigned organizational units/projects/programs.
What We Offer:
This position comes with an estimated annual salary of $147,000 - $183,300 based on location and experience. The U.S. Department of Transportation offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
Requirements:
To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-J, FG/GS 14 level. Specialized experience includes experience providing advice to management officials regarding an organization's administrative and technical policies and procedures, as well as facilitating communication and collaboration across different organizations.
