Job Overview

This position at Hoffman Specialty Contracting involves laying out and framing walls, ceilings, and soffits. It also includes hanging gypsum board materials and installing trims and specialty components.

Responsibilities
  • We are looking for a skilled carpenter to study blueprints, sketches, and building plans to determine the required materials and dimensions of components.
  • The selected candidate will be responsible for selecting the right materials for the job and preparing layouts using various tools.
  • This role requires assembling components by cutting them to the necessary sizes and fastening them together with screws and/or nuts and bolts.
  • The ideal candidate will verify the trueness of assembled components using a plumb bob and carpenter's level.

The work environment can vary from indoors to outdoors, exposing the employee to different weather conditions.

Physical Demands
  • This job requires standing/walking constantly, which is around 66% to 100% of the day.
  • The employee must be able to climb stairs up to 5% of the time.
  • Constantly grasping hands are required, accounting for 66% to 100% of the day.
  • Pushing and pulling hands are needed frequently, which is around 33% to 66% of the day.
  • Fine manipulation of hands is occasionally required, less than 33% of the day.

  • The employee must not be afraid of heights.
  • They must work in a safe manner in compliance with Hoffman's Safety Policy.
  • Reliability is crucial, requiring the employee to arrive on time and be ready to work for scheduled shifts.
Qualifications
  • Certifications and experience using aerial work platforms are preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will belong to a local union hall.
  • They must be knowledgeable and experienced in using carpenter's hand tools and power tools while conforming to local building codes.
  • Reliability is essential, requiring the employee to show up on time and be ready to work for scheduled shifts.
