Job Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Design and implement personalized learning plans for students with special needs.
  • Adapt Curriculum to Meet Student Needs: Modify teaching methods and materials to cater to the unique requirements of each student.
  • Provide Direct Instruction in Small Groups or One-on-One: Deliver tailored instruction to students in a setting that suits their learning style.
  • Assess Student Progress and Adjust Teaching Methods as Needed: Continuously evaluate student progress and adjust instructional strategies to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborate with General Education Teachers, Staff, and Families: Work closely with educators, staff, and families to provide comprehensive support for students.
  • Implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Manage Classroom Behavior: Develop and implement strategies to promote positive behavior and maintain a well-organized classroom environment.
  • Maintain Clear Communication with Parents and Guardians: Regularly update parents on student progress and involve them in decision-making processes.
  • Keep Accurate Records and Participate in Professional Development: Maintain accurate records and engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education (Master's Preferred): Possess a strong foundation in special education principles and practices.
  • Valid Illinois Special Education Certification (LBS1) or Eligibility: Hold current certification or be eligible for certification in special education.
  • Experience in Writing and Implementing IEPs (Preferred): Have prior experience in developing and implementing individualized education plans.
  • Strong Communication, Organizational, and Collaboration Skills: Possess excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Passion for Supporting Students with Disabilities: Demonstrate a genuine passion for supporting students with special needs and advocating for their rights.
