Southwestern Michigan College seeks a dedicated and organized student to fill the role of Academic Advising Assistant. As an essential member of our team, you will provide administrative support to the Academic Advising and Resource Center.
About the PositionThis position is ideal for students who are eager to develop their skills in customer service, communication, and problem-solving. You will work closely with students, staff, and faculty to ensure a seamless experience for all visitors to the center.
Key Responsibilities- Greet students and explain the services offered by the Academic Advising and Resource Center.
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries from students, staff, and faculty.
- Assist students with registration, including verifying academic requirements and testing schedules.
- Use Banner to determine student eligibility for various programs and services.
- Perform administrative tasks such as shredding, filing, scanning, and photocopying documents.
- Serve as office coverage during staff meetings and training sessions.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Banner software.
We offer a competitive salary of $10.56 per hour, paid bi-weekly. As a student employee, you will have access to valuable work experience, opportunities for professional growth, and the chance to make a meaningful contribution to the Southwestern Michigan College community.
