Sports Medicine Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
* Evaluate patients on the field and design/implement a plan of care based on patient functioning, diagnosis, treatment, self-management, and access to healthcare resources.
* Document evaluations and plan of care via injury report.
* Deliver physical care to patients, including monitoring of patient response and results during care.
* Instruct patients and/or family members in treatment, activities, and home care.
* Provide education to patients and family members, sports groups regarding health maintenance, normal body functions, injury prevention, strength, and conditioning.
* Provide First aid whenever needed.
* Assist with the fitting of braces both off the shelf and custom-made.
* Communicate with players, coaches, and parents.
* Communicate with team physician/PA.
* Work with School Administration to establish safe Sports Medicine protocols and practices as needed.
* Assist with wound care/dressing changes.
Requirements:
* NATA Board Certification
* License with the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure– Athletic Trainer
* CPR for Healthcare Providers by the American Heart Association or equivalent
* Maintain 50 CEU credits per 2-year period
* High school graduation or GED
* Must work well with people
* Effective communication skills
* Strong ethical and moral character references
* Willingness to support and encourage co-workers
* Willingness to learn Sportsware (EMR) & Medbridge health systems.
