Job Summary

Efficus, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Sonographer to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing high-quality echocardiography procedures to diagnose and monitor cardiovascular conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyze medical information to identify patient needs and potential contraindications.
  • Verify written orders and follow protocols to perform correct procedures and assign readings to medical doctors.
  • Accurately explain cardiac procedures to patients and their families.
  • Perform all cardiac ultrasound and echo procedures, including required elements and images based on patient anatomy.
  • Follow departmental standardized protocols for technician reports prior to submission to medical doctors.
  • Prioritize workload to ensure immediate attention to urgent cases.
  • Recognize and report conditions that affect or compromise technical aspects of tests and procedures.
  • Practice infection prevention precautions and maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients.
  • Accurately input data into computer systems to charge and credit patient-generated charges.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities and comply with patient care and documentation practices.
  • Maintain records for IAC accreditation requirements.
  • Assure patient comfort pre, intra, and post-procedure, and assist with ambulation and positioning as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining sufficient supplies and operable equipment within the department.
  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs on ultrasound equipment, referring major problems to the Manager and Biomedical Engineering as appropriate.
  • Practice proper safety techniques in accordance with Universal Precautions.
  • Immediately report any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents to the Manager.
  • Perform advanced cardiac imaging techniques for procedures such as pericardiocentesis, strain imaging, 3D imaging for structural heart procedures, assessment of Impella devices, left ventricular assist devices, trans-catheter valvular repairs, ECMO, and contrast perfusion testing.
  • Provide professional guidance and act as a preceptor for students in training, new hires, and level one echo sonographers.

  • Proficiency in performing all cardiac ultrasound and echo procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention precautions and safety protocols.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
