">Hospital Medical Leader Position Overview
">The Hospital Medical Leader position is a key role in our Vetco Total Care hospitals, responsible for leading the hospital veterinary team in providing excellent patient care while delivering phenomenal customer experiences.
">Salary Range
">We offer a competitive salary range of $126,880.00 - $202,800.00 per year, commensurate with experience.
">Key Responsibilities
">- ">
- Lead the hospital veterinary team to deliver high-quality patient care and customer experiences.">
- Mentor and coach veterinarians to drive continuous improvement in clinical skills, client communication, and team collaboration.">
- Ensure compliance with medical quality standards, state practice act requirements, and applicable laws and regulations.">
- Conduct regular reviews of electronic medical records to elevate patient care and client interactions.">
- Participate in hospital partner interviews and create veterinarian schedules to ensure seamless operations.">
- Closely monitor hospital performance and identify areas for improvement to drive business results through exceptional quality and efficiency.">
- Develop treatment plans for patients undergoing hospitalization and communicate effectively with referral hospitals and clients to ensure continuity of patient care.">
- Disseminate knowledge throughout the team to improve care and communication provided by the hospital.">
- Perform additional duties as assigned, including participating in rounds and holding premise permits or vendor accounts as needed.">
- Take direct supervision from the Area Medical Director and uphold standards set forth in Petco Veterinary SOPs.">
- Uphold a strong culture of safety for team, clients, and patients, and partner with the Hospital Office Manager for radiation safety training and compliance.">
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be compassionate and sympathetic, and maintain a professional attitude and demeanor during emotional and stressful situations.">
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds, stand for long periods, and work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.">
- Regularly communicate with clients, veterinary specialists, and companies that provide products and services used by the practice.">
Required Skills and Qualifications
">- ">
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.">
- 1-3 years minimum of clinical veterinary experience, with experience mentoring and coaching veterinarians preferred.">
- Active licensure as a veterinarian without contingencies in the state where the hospital is located or ability to obtain by start date.">
- Current DEA license and Controlled Substance License, if applicable, in the state where the hospital is located or ability to obtain by start date.">
- USDA Category I (minimum) Accreditation or completion within two months of hire date.">
- Strong skills performing anesthesia and routine surgeries, including spays/neuters, exploratory laparotomy, and mass removals.">
- Excellent telephone and computer skills, with the ability to learn new techniques and treatments.">
- Able to work in a team environment, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.">
- Able to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines, with flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.">
