Role Summary

We're seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior IT Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our on-premises IT infrastructure. You'll work with technologies like SAN Storage, vSphere VxRail, Backup, Linux, and Windows OS, as well as scripting languages like PowerShell and automation tools like Terraform and Ansible.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and maintain SAN fabric on Cisco MDS Switches, implementing zoning, masking, and other SAN management practices.
  • Design, implement, and manage virtualization technologies, such as VMware vSphere or KVM, and manage hyper-converged solutions like VxRail and vSAN clusters.
  • Design and implement backup solutions for servers, virtual machines, and data, manage backup schedules, retention policies, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Install, configure, and maintain rack-mounted servers, manage hardware upgrades and replacements, and ensure server security and compliance with best practices.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Ansible and AWX, develop Ansible playbooks and roles to automate routine tasks and integrate Ansible with other tools and systems.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot system issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure seamless IT operations, document SOPs and architectural designs, plan capacity for all services, participate in on-call rotations, and respond to emergencies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of experience with vSphere, VxRail, and Open Source Hypervisor for designing and managing virtualized infrastructure.
  • 7+ years of experience with SAN Fabric Network and Block, Object, and File Share Services.
  • 5+ years of experience with Rubrik backup solutions or similar data protection technologies.
  • In-depth understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems, including administration and troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of scripting languages like PowerShell, PowerCLI, and automation tools like Terraform and Ansible.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • A self-motivated and proactive approach to learning new technologies and staying up to date with industry advancements.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
