Salary Range: $20.76 - $31.80
POSITION SUMMARY:
This role is integral to enhancing departmental efficiency, encompassing responsibilities such as patient registration, pre-admission and admission processes, as well as reception and discharge activities. The individual must ensure the collection of complete and accurate patient demographic data. Patient Access Representatives are also responsible for employing compliant techniques for patient liability collection throughout the service timeline.
Key Responsibilities:
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Welcoming patients in accordance with Good Shepherd Standards of Care, delivering exceptional customer service, and completing comprehensive patient registration at the time of service. This includes adherence to financial and cash control policies, as well as securing necessary legal documentation (e.g., Advance Directives, Consent for Treatment, etc.). Responsibilities also include scanning Protected Health Information and organizing patient information packets for upcoming services.
- Informing patients about their financial responsibilities and utilizing compliant collection methods throughout the service process. This includes performing cash reconciliation and secure payment entry in line with financial policies.
- Conducting medical necessity checks and verifications as per regulatory standards, confirming insurance coverage and eligibility, and completing assigned registration financial clearance tasks. This may also involve obtaining insurance authorizations for both scheduled and unscheduled services.
Work Environment:
The role is primarily conducted in an indoor setting, shielded from external weather conditions. However, there may be occasional interactions with challenging customers. The work area experiences consistent foot traffic and varying noise levels, requiring adaptability to a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

The candidate must be capable of:
- Recognizing sounds and communicating effectively.
- Utilizing hands and arms for various tasks.
- Assuming various physical positions, including sitting for extended periods.
- Providing assistance to patients as needed.
- Working extended hours when required.
- Managing potential exposure to infectious materials or chemicals.
- Maintaining visual acuity to monitor the waiting area.
Qualifications:
A. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
B. Experience: A minimum of 2 years in a healthcare setting is preferred.
C. Language Skills: Bilingual capabilities, particularly in English and Spanish, are preferred, with the ability to engage with a culturally diverse patient population.
