Job Summary

Community Housing Innovations is seeking a skilled Housing Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our housing team, you will be responsible for ensuring that program participants receive the necessary services to locate, acquire, maintain, and retain permanent housing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide landlord outreach and advocacy, housing leads, and applications
  • Be knowledgeable about and accurately complete applications for housing subsidy programs
  • Collaborate with DHS, property owners, and other service providers to assist families in fulfilling ILP and program requirements
  • Mediate between clients and property owners or representatives
  • Collect and review Housing Logs and inform case managers of any concerns related to documents

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in human services or related field preferred
  • 3+ years experience in a related field assisting people with obtaining permanent housing can replace degree requirement
  • Must have at least two years experience working in a related field such as homelessness or housing
  • Working knowledge and insight into NYC housing resources, including experience helping people find affordable housing and working with different NYC and NY State agencies and programs that facilitate permanent housing goals
