Job Summary:The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) will be a crucial part of a care team, dedicated to delivering high-quality nursing care to patients under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or physician.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform routine patient care functions as prescribed by established policies and procedures within the defined scope of education, training, and responsibilities.
- Utilize and practice "basic assessment" (e.g., data collection) and document data in accordance with JWCH's policies and procedures, as well as the standards of LVN practice.
- Contribute to the evaluation of the patient's individualized interventions related to the care plan and treatment plan.
- Execute basic patient care consistently with JWCH's policies and procedures and the LVN licensure laws of the State of California.
- Apply principles of aseptic technique and infection control as per policy and procedures.
- Employ and reinforce proper body mechanics and appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Recognize the need for emergency care, initiate appropriate procedures within the scope of practice, and promptly alert the Nurse Manager and physician.
- Conduct patient education and support patients' self-management goals following JWCH's policies and procedures.
- Delegate selected tasks to a medical assistant, consistent with their job description and JWCH's policies and procedures.
- Assist medical personnel with procedures and/or diagnostic exams.
- Maintain cleanliness and stocking of patient exam rooms and work areas.
- Document relevant patient information, performed procedures, and patient responses according to established policies and procedures.
- Immediately document all patient care in the medical record after performing any task.
- Assist in the maintenance, care, and handling of medical equipment.
- Uphold standards of cleanliness, organization, and an adequate supply level for assigned exam rooms or work areas.
- Demonstrate correct and safe technique in equipment use and cleaning based on specific manufacturers' instructions and the policy and procedure manual.
- Hold responsibility and accountability for adherence to organizational and department standards and policies.
- Observe departmental guidelines concerning absences and report absences following departmental procedures.
- Identify potentially unsafe systems/processes/situations and proactively report them to the supervisor.
- Participate in assigned organizational programs/committees.
- Demonstrate effective working relationships and collaborate effectively as part of the team to contribute to the organization's goals and objectives.
- Perform other assigned duties.
- Current and valid California LVN License.
- Current BLS card from the American Heart Association.
- At least one-year experience in an ambulatory care setting.
- Experience in working with clients and staff from diverse socio-economic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
- Proficient in clinical procedures and nursing practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach.
- Current and valid California Driver's License with current car insurance.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) Preferred.

Employees working 30 hours per week or more are provided a monthly allowance which can be used towards medical, dental, and vision premiums.
