About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Patient Care Coordinator to join our team at Optum. As a key member of our healthcare services team, you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless patient care and exceptional customer experience.

Job Summary

This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday between 7:30 AM and 5 PM. As an Associate Patient Care Coordinator, you will be responsible for scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, managing wait times, completing check-in and check-out tasks, collecting co-payments, and processing walk-in patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule appointments and manage calendars
  • Answer telephone calls, re-direct calls as appropriate, assist callers with questions or concerns, and take messages as needed
  • Greet patients as they arrive and manage wait time
  • Complete check-in and check-out tasks to include insurance verification, pre-authorizations, and document preparation
  • Collects co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles and issues receipts
  • Process walk-in patients and visitors
  • Manage medical records (maintain, file/scans, prepare for schedule)
  • Ensure all correspondence is scanned and/or filed, process requests for medical records release, and maintain logs
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, employees, and the public
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of customer service experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience working in a healthcare setting
  • Strong communication and customer service skills both in person and via phone
  • Working knowledge of general office procedures
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Medical office experience
