Licensed Practical Nurse

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will participate in patient care under the direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or other specified healthcare professional. This role is commensurate with the Scope of Practice.

Shift Details: Full-time (40 budgeted hours). The clinic operates from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, with working hours consisting of four 10-hour shifts and Tuesdays off.
Unit/Location: Heights Family Medicine Clinic
Additional Details: Clinic RN experience is preferred but not required.
Scope of Practice- Perform basic nursing care to patients by following established standards and procedures.
- Collect patient data such as vital signs, note patient observations, and report accordingly.
- Prepare and administer injections, perform routine tests, treat wounds, and change bandages.
- Prepare patient records and files using established medical record forms/automated systems and documentation practices.
- Administer medications within the scope of license and monitor treatment progress and patient response.
- Participate in the implementation and evaluation of patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations.
- Convey information to patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
- Participate in teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes.
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing program.
- Current/valid Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse from the state licensing board.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) is required.
- If applicable, must have additional specialty certifications.
- May need IV certification.
Preferred:
- One (1) year experience in a clinic or acute hospital nursing setting.
- One (1) year Specialty clinic experience.
The employee must be able to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors require the employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers is necessary to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. The employee must be able to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment, and walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.
