Medical Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and organized Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at BayMark Health Services. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule intake appointments, record and verify patient information, and prepare medical records for new and returning patients.
  • Check in patients, escort them to and from the waiting room, interview patients, and measure vital signs, recording information in patients' electronic charts.
  • Assist Medical Directors, Program Physicians, and Nurse Practitioners with patient intakes and as needed.
  • Obtain blood specimens and collect non-blood specimens, such as urine and sputum, for laboratory testing.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations and disinfect treatment rooms, equipment, and supplies using germicides.
  • Act as a receptionist, perform secretarial duties, and prepare and maintain reports and records.
  • Triage and manage questions, phone contacts, and fax messages.
  • File lab results into appropriate binders and distribute lab results to counselors.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and in-service trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum age requirement of 18.
  • Medical Assistant certification or registration.
  • Phlebotomy skills are required.
  • Possess CPR/BCLS certification.
  • Familiarity with State Regulations, DEA regulations, and TJC and/or CARF Accreditation.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, with working knowledge of MS Office and patient management software.
  • Ability to establish a positive rapport with patients and demonstrate a non-judgmental and accepting attitude toward the Substance Use Disorder population.
  • 1-2 years of prior healthcare experience in a similar field and environment is preferred.
  • Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
