Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure that shift employees follow safe work practices and procedures consistently and completely. Conduct audits for compliance and address safety issues in a timely manner.
  • Work safely and be proactively involved in plant safety improvement efforts.
  • Conduct safety and job function training for shift personnel.
  • Train employees in proper procedures, coach them to improve results, and evaluate performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve process, equipment, and material issues in conjunction with machine operators and support personnel.
  • Interpret work orders and specifications to shift employees, as necessary.
  • Lead and/or assist shift employees in problem resolution. Lead or support efforts to determine root cause and develop corrective actions.
  • Spot check product quality and ensure specifications are being met and quality procedures are being followed.
  • Recommend measures to improve safety, production methods, equipment performance, quality of product, and reduction of waste.
  • Suggest changes in procedures, labor utilization, use of equipment, and materials to increase the efficiency of the plant, shift, department, or work cell.
  • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals.
  • Double-check, ensure accuracy, and finalize production paperwork, including production reports, work order documentation, safety and sanitation documents, quality records, finished goods tickets, etc.
  • Interpret company policies, rules, and regulations to employees.
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately at the necessary frequency with subordinates, peers, and superiors.
  • Perform activities of employees supervised, as needed.
  • All other projects and duties, as assigned.

  • Team player with the ability to build lasting productive business relationships with hourly employees, management, and peers.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, customers, or suppliers.
