About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Full-Time Critical Care Float Pool Registered Nurse to join our team at The George Washington University Hospital. As a Critical Care Float Pool RN, you will have the opportunity to work across three critical care environments: the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality, patient-centered care across the Emergency Department, ICU, and PACU, adapting to the needs of each unit.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for patients, based on clinical condition and unit-specific protocols.
  • Respond quickly to changes in patient status, utilizing advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and other nursing interventions according to established protocols.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in each unit to deliver coordinated, comprehensive care.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient care activities and interventions.
  • Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives, ensuring adherence to safety standards and hospital policies.
  • Serve as a resource to other nurses and staff members, offering guidance and support across the units where you are assigned.
  • Float to different areas as staffing needs arise, providing seamless transitions and continuity of care for patients.
