We are seeking skilled and compassionate Patient Care Technicians/Nursing Assistants to join our team at UPMC Presbyterian. As a Patient Care Technician/Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting the nursing staff in our Resource Unit/Float Pool.

About the Role

As a Patient Care Technician/Nursing Assistant, you will work under the direction of nurses and physicians to provide routine patient care and support the department services.

Responsibilities
  • Provide routine patient care, including ADLs (bathing, feeding, transporting, toileting, ambulating, and turning and repositioning patients)
  • Perform point of care testing, vital signs, and other clinical tasks as assigned
  • Assist with patient procedures and activities of daily living
  • Provide instruction to patients and their families under the direction of the RN
  • Apply, monitor, and remove patient restraints as per physician or hospital protocol
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Successful completion of UPMC Nursing Assistant, or Patient Care Technician, or EIC training program
  • Knowledge of body mechanics and transfer techniques
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
