About the Job
">We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Legal Affairs and Mediation to join our team at the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our Mediation Department and providing legal research and support to our judges and magistrates.
">The Ideal Candidate
">To succeed in this role, you will need to have a JD degree and at least 5 years of experience in conducting legal research and drafting legal opinions, appeals, or case briefs. You should also have a minimum of 1 year of demonstrable leadership experience or direct supervisory experience. Additionally, you must be licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio.
">Key Responsibilities
">Your key responsibilities will include:

- Managing and directing the day-to-day operations of the Mediation Department from a director-level position.">
- Conducting and coordinating legal research and education at the Court.">
- Drafting subsequent opinions and memorandums of law.">
- Monitoring, reviewing, and ensuring completion and accuracy of all legal research requests from Judges, Magistrates, and other appropriate Court staff as needed.">
- Conducting staff meetings and participating in other departmental meetings regarding legal issues.">
- Assisting in developing, updating, and disseminating legal forms for use in all areas of the Court.">
- Assisting in developing, coordinating, and conducting Continuing Legal Education (CLEs) and informational programs for Judges, Magistrates, Court employees, attorneys, and members of the public.">
- Maintaining an open and effective communication with legal entities including, but not limited to, the Supreme Court of Ohio, Bar Associations, and State and Local Representatives.">
- Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.">
Benefits
">We offer a competitive salary of $110,000 per year, along with comprehensive benefits that include health, dental, vision, life insurance, and an employee assistance program. We also offer paid time off, twelve holidays, vacation time, and sick time. Our retirement plan includes the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) with a 14% annual employer contribution and Deferred Compensation Plans.

">This is a director-level position that requires strong leadership skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will be working in a general office setting with moderate noise levels and may be subject to interruptions, quick deliverables, and changing work deadlines.
