Strategic Fundraising and Communications Lead

The Development & Communications Manager is a key role at U.S.VETS, responsible for leading the site's fundraising efforts, managing communications, and engaging with the community.
About the JobThis Exempt position reports directly to the Executive Director and plays a vital part in increasing private revenue annually to meet projected goals. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of site fundraising, including general fundraising, special events, individual and corporate giving, and in-kind donations.
Responsibilities:- Work closely with the Site Executive Director to develop and implement site-wide fundraising strategies, ensuring alignment with national development goals.
- Partner with National Development staff to execute and expand fundraising activities, participate in national development calls, teleconferences, and meetings.
- Manage all signature events, from administration to logistics, securing sponsorships, donations, and in-kind contributions.
- Lead growth of corporate fundraising by identifying and soliciting prospects for event sponsorships, investments, and support.
- Oversee donor engagement, increase individual giving through stewardship, and coordinate direct mail and e-appeals.
- Conduct prospect research, initiate, and conduct outreach and solicitation, independently or in partnership with senior leadership.
- Serve as a community representative, facilitating presentations for the Executive Director and program leaders, delivering presentations to local businesses, faith-based groups, and associations.
- Secure in-kind contributions for events, programs, and facilities, partnering with local groups, businesses, and organizations.
- Engage community and corporate volunteers, develop, and oversee individual and group projects, managing and stewarding volunteers on-site and at events.
- Utilize Blackbaud RE NXT database to create records, track contributions, send acknowledgments, and monitor actions and contacts.
- Bachelor's degree preferred or commensurate experience will be considered.
- 3-5 years of fundraising experience, particularly in special events, individual and corporate giving.
- Able to exercise discretion and independent judgment in managing donor relationships.
- Initiative to personally request and secure investments from individuals, corporations, and community groups.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and demonstrate strong time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, able to listen and communicate effectively with colleagues and donors.
- Flexibility, creativity, and initiative required to create new opportunities.
- Strong Microsoft Office, database, and administration skills.
$80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience.
