Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Counselor to join our team at Northern California Behavioral Health System. The successful candidate will work closely with our Revenue Cycle Team, Patient Access, and Case Management to ensure seamless patient admissions and billing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct patient interviews and verify insurance coverage to ensure accurate billing and admissions.
  • Collaborate with nursing units, physicians, and insurance companies to resolve billing inquiries and denials.
  • Assess and resolve self-pay account balances, and verify insurance coverage for inpatient and outpatient accounts.
  • Provide financial options to patients and authorized family members prior to admission, and assist in resolving routine admitting inquiries.
  • Maintain patient valuables, collect monies, and accept patient valuables for safekeeping during their stay.
  • Set up and record payments for patient services, and assist with decreasing denials and increasing reimbursements.
Requirements
  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of healthcare billing and insurance knowledge.
  • Knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 coding and medical terminology.
  • Strong organizational skills, with ability to prioritize projects, work independently, and manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, expanding organization.
